a message from our CEO

Our story is your story, and we have been busy sharing it. We are going full speed on representing our members in all aspects of outreach. Whether it is regarding new legislation that impacts how our members are getting seasonal employees, Department of Transportation emergency work on the RT 72 Bay Bridge Project, or organizing meetings with travel planners, media and influencers to assure that those doing business here continue to flourish. Our social and digital platforms are packed with member events, close ups and promotion.

As a destination full of independent businesses, we continue to rewrite the rules with unique business programs and marketing strategy that is recognized on a national level. I will be representing our region during a presentation about our tourism innovation at the Destination International Global Convention in Anaheim California, where we will share how our initiatives cultivated a version of beach culture that is redefining how potential consumers and investors are reaching us.

Our board, office staff and members have been working on larger scale projects and partnerships as we gear up for our 105th year of service. Our Downtown Driven Program Ferry Committee has big news as August will bring the return of ferry service from Tuckerton to Beach Haven. Our Chowderfest Committee announced our first international Chowder competitor to mark the Cook Off’s 30th Anniversary.

These next few weeks we will be continually adding to our extensive fall schedule so it is packed with opportunity for your business to get what it needs in way of development, networking and up to date information. If you have not had the time to drop off or send your recent information to our visitor center, please do so as last year we had over 5000 people stop in. Onboard for what we are doing here? We are all in it together and always are thankful for your support.

founded in family

A legacy by the water, second and third generation of The Bywatyr Shop continue the family business 33rd year.

Denise Burr started vacationing to Long Beach Island with her family in 1980. The family atmosphere led her parents to purchase a summer home in Village Harbor, then move permanently to Beach Haven Terrace. The Bywater shop was a well-established dress shop for 30 years, prior to Denise’s parents Thomas and Joanne Quinlan purchasing it in 1985.
