Vol. 4, Issue #5 – September & October 2018

make it

a message from our CEO

Inspiration is easy to find in the fall, and so are good reasons to gather over the next few weeks. Let’s start with our September 12th Founded in Family Forum. Mix in great business networking events and round out the month with our 30th Anniversary Chowderfest weekend happening September 29 & 30. We are test driving some new events in October and look forward to hearing your feedback. Our partnership with Ocean County SCORE and US SBA will bring Business Bootcamp back with a Franchise focus for members who are part of or considering franchising. New laws and procedures go into effect this October, including New Jersey Paid Sick Leave Act. We have information in this issue so you can stay informed. This summer introduced the Tuckerton Seaport – Beach Haven Water Ferry powered by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce which will begin regular service in 2019.

Our office continues to serve out of area visitors, new residents, visiting friends, and family as well as incoming businesses and investors on a daily basis. We find our inspiration in what our members are able to accomplish, and are here to share your story. Please check out our newest features Southern Ocean Close Up, Chowderfest profiles, and our Founded in Family histories that we share on our Southern Ocean Chamber and LBI Region social pages – so you can share the stories that make up our region.

We’ve all heard the saying “It takes a village . . . .” Well, it takes an entire family to run a village. Bay Village wouldn’t exist without the help of family. My wife, Maribell and I had the support of her family who’ve been residents of LBI since 1890.
